Senior Manager of Business Development & Strategy
National Journal Research is looking for a Senior Manager of Business Development & Strategy to join our growing firm. We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual with excellent writing and oral communication skills who is organized, persistent, and collaborative.
This role reports directly to the Chief Business Development Officer. The National Journal Research’s revenue team offers ample opportunities for mentorship and development.

What is the National Journal Research Revenue Team?
The National Journal Research revenue team is looking for a talented candidate to help our expanding team drive growth in the government and corporate affairs spaces. Our business is dedicated to equipping leaders with high quality work and excellent customer service. Our clients are senior executives in government affairs and public affairs. We serve them through a growing portfolio of research and consulting services.
This position will work closely with The Network Science Initiative (NSI) research team. The NSI research team is a custom research division within National Journal specializing in stakeholder mapping for corporations and associations. NSI identifies the people and organizations - from government, industry, think tanks, advocates, and media - with the most influence on key policy decisions; maps their connections within and across their respective communities; and develops tailored messaging and engagement strategies.
Your responsibilities will include:
Building and maintaining relationships with senior executives across the government affairs, public policy, and corporate affairs space
Serving as a strategic advisor to clients with a focus on consultant-style business development
Partnering with the research team to construct creative solutions to address client challenges
Consistently attaining or exceeding revenue targets
Exhibiting strong organizational and operational skills with a keen attention to detail and effective use of data
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:
Strategic thinker who is skilled at client service and client problem-solving
Business minded individual with ambition and entrepreneurial instincts
Strong work ethic driven by intellectual curiosity and persistence
Experience operating within business development, government relations, public affairs, or corporate affairs space
Ability to demonstrate poise and grace under pressure
Excellent written and oral communication skills
A self-starter, eager to deliver external and internal customer service
Organization and time management skills, with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and efficiently respond to urgent requests
Awareness of and interest in what happens in Washington and public policy
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university
A full course of the COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment at National Journal

Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 plus performance bonus
Remote Status: Remote for Q1 2022 at which point this job will be based in Washington, DC
