Senior Director of Policy Research & Content Strategy
National Journal is hiring a Senior Director of Policy Research & Content Strategy who will lead the product teams working on our Presentation Center, Concierge, Almanac+, and PolicyView products, as well as co-own new product development for our Membership business.

Position in Brief:
The Senior Director of Policy Research & Content Strategy is responsible for managing a team of research analysts and content creators who produce timely, relevant, and impactful deliverables for clients in the government affairs and public policy community. These deliverables include presentations, infographics, data visualizations, and more. The Senior Director will monitor breaking news and market demand signals in order to set a robust content strategy that consistently exceeds our client’s needs. This individual will manage production calendars and build processes to mitigate bandwidth challenges in order to deliver premium syndicated and bespoke content to our clients.
National Journal is looking for an action-oriented, solutions-inclined leader who can guide a team of analysts and coach them on how to extract insightful takeaways from policy and politics-related stories. This leader will also be responsible for setting a clear direction and motivating their team to accomplish individual and collective goals.
5+ years of management experience in relevant fields such as news, media, or research
Solutions-oriented mindset with an inclination toward action, urgency, and results
A skilled project manager with the ability to manage competing priorities and adhere to strict deadlines
An interest and/or experience working in politics and/or policy with an aptitude to consume and analyze broad policy areas and the political process
Demonstrated adaptability and open-minded attitude
Utilizes data to transform strategy and proactively adapt processes when necessary
Experience in project management software, preferably Wrike.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, namely PowerPoint and Excel.
Familiarity with design software is a plus – this would include Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, and Canva.
Identifies trends within data and market signals to adapt existing product offerings, develop new features, diagnoses evolving market needs, and proposes innovative solutions
Highly motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of taking ownership, making quick decisions, and meeting steep goals
Active contributor to a diverse and inclusive workplace

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000
Location: This job is based in Washington, DC. National Journal operates on a hybrid schedule, with employees required to be in the office every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
